GetCandy v2.0-beta7

Author

10 days ago we released v2.0-beta6 which mainly provided fixes for issues raised on Github. This next release is a big one and contains a complete rework of some key systems in the GetCandy Core.

This is our biggest release since launch and sets GetCandy up to be easily extendable, and scale with a store's needs.

Attribute Rework

On the initial release of v2, we knew we wanted to come back to how attributes worked. We wanted to make sure that developers are free to customise them as much as possible and be able to add their own field types.

Previously, you were only able to add attributes in a somehow one-dimensional way. The hub listed them out, you could edit them and create new ones, nothing too fancy. What was missing was the ability to reorder attributes, add additional attribute groups and also specify custom validation rules you may require for when staff are making updates.

This release fixes this, you can now do all the above and we have made it super simple for you to add your own field types if you need to.

Product Variant Attributes

Another point that kept coming up in the community was the need to add attributes to product variants, the idea being you would potentially need to have a different attribute value for each variant. We are happy to announce that with this rework, this is now possible. All you need to do is add a product variant attribute, associate it via a product type and then you are done! It will now appear on each variant that uses that product type.

Field Types

2.0-beta7 comes with a bunch of new field types for you to use in your store. Previously we had....two. But now we have added four more:

List

Add a custom list of items that can be reordered.

Dropdown

A simple select input in which you can add your own values and order them however you like.

Toggle

Provides a switch (boolean) attribute, which allows you to specify the on/off values.

We are not going to stop here and you can expect more attribute types in a later update. If you want to add your own, you can just follow the guides
